Natural herbs used to colon cleanse

The colon is an important part of our digestive tract particularly of the large intestine. Its main function is to absorb the water component and electrolytes from the digested food and pass the remaining harmful substances to the rectum for final elimination through the bowel movement.

To internally cleanse the colon, herbs are used as they form an important part of any colon cleansing treatment. These herbs includes psyllium seed and husk, apple pectin and willow charcoal. The seeds and husk of psyllium have been used since ages for a colon cleanse since their water-absorbing property makes the stools to be bulky and viscous so that they can be eliminated efficiently. And apple pectin, extracted from apples, helps in enhancing the elimination of bile acids, lipids and toxins and thereby aiding the colon cleansing process and also use to reduce cholesterol. Last is the willow charcoal, used for cleansing the colon, absorbs many toxins and other harmful substances in the body.
